Officer involved shooting in Stockton.

Officer Involved Shooting Update.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that today, at 2pm, a Stockton Police Officer was following up on a robbery investigation in the area of Jamestown Street and Sousa Street. The officer saw a person matching the suspect description from the robbery investigation. When the officer went to go make contact with the suspect, who was a 30 year old adult male, the suspect ran away armed with a handgun. The officer gave chase on foot. At one point, the suspect stopped running and there was a confrontation. The suspect refused to comply with the officers orders, at which point the officer fearing for not only his safety but for the safety of others fired his service weapon striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. The Stockton Police officer is ok. The Stockton Police Department has initiated a County Wide Protocol investigation.
