Another Vehicle Stuck On the Railroad Tracks Near Valero Gas Station
September 13, 2016 about 9:40pm – Escalon Police responded to a report of a vehicle on the railroad tracks. The driver from Modesto was heading east on Highway 120 just going over the railroad tracks near the Valero gas station when the accident occurred. The driver misjudged the curve of the roadway and drove a little to close to the tracks which caused the right front/rear tires to straddle one of the railroad tracks. This sent the vehicle sliding down the tracks where it came to rest on the tracks. There were no injuries to the occupant and little damage to the vehicle. McDowell & Davis Tow Service was called out to remove the vehicle from the tracks.
After the vehicle was removed from the tracks the driver was able to drive it away. BNSF was notified and the trains on the tracks were able to stop before reaching the vehicle. BNSF officials were called out to inspect the tracks and confirmed there was no damage to the tracks before the trains were allowed to continue.
