Detectives Arrest Oakdale Man in Airport District Homicide Investigation.
Modesto, California.
NEWS RELEASE: Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
On 09/15/16 at approximately 5:22 a.m., deputies and firefighters responded to Mono Drive and S. Santa Ana Avenue in Modesto, CA for an unresponsive man lying in the roadway.
When firefighters arrived they found 40 year-old William Chatman of Modesto with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Chatman was transported to the emergency room where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Detectives began to process evidence and interview witnesses which led them to a suspect, 25 year-old Abraham Martinez of Oakdale, CA.
On 09-23-16 during the late afternoon Detectives and the Sheriff SWAT team served three search warrants related to Martinez.
Two search warrants were served in Stanislaus County and one was served in Manteca. CA.
The investigation led STING deputies to the Budget Inn Suites on Hammer Lane in Stockton, CA where Martinez was arrested at approximately 4:40 p.m.
Martinez was booked into the Stanislaus County jail for murder. Detectives are not releasing any further details on their investigation.
