This Evening’s Traffic Accident on Highway 120 and Irwin Avenue.
ESCALON, CALIFORNIA – Escalon Police Department investigated a rear-end traffic collision with unknown injuries that occurred this evening. There were some complaints of pain, but no one was transported by ambulance.
The collision was reported about 5:50 this evening on Highway 120 just east of Irwin Avenue. Escalon Police, Fire, and Paramedics responded to the scene.
It was reported that the black VW Touareg and the silver Chevy Equinox were traveling eastbound on Highway 120 nearing the railroad tracks by the Valero gas station when the accident occurred. The traffic in the area was heavy due to the evening commute. The traffic was backed up from the signal lights at the intersection of Highway 120 and McHenry Avenue.
It appeared the driver of the black VW failed to stop for the slowing traffic and struck the rear-end of the silver Chevy causing moderate to major damage to both vehicles. The Chevy was able to be driven away from the scene. While the VW with the front-end damage had to be towed.
There was also a secondary rear-end accident that occurred almost simultaneously between a white Chevy full size work van and a white Chevy Astro van. There were no reported injuries in this accident and damage to the vehicles was minor.
There were some traffic delays in the area due to the accident and debris in the roadway. Escalon Fire along with McDowell and Davis towing services were able to clear the roadway quickly. Traffic soon returned to normal.
