Escalon, California – Police, Fire and Ambulance Services responded to single vehicle rollover accident early this morning.

The accident was reported about 06:03 a.m. this morning, Escalon Police, Fire and Escalon Community Ambulance responded to a report of unknown injury rollover vehicle accident involving a dark colored sports utility vehicle on Santa Fe Road near Orange Avenue. California Highway Patrol was also dispatched and was enroute when Escalon Police cleared them.

Upon arriving on the scene, emergency personnel found the vehicle overturned on the side of the road and that the driver had already exited the vehicle. It appeared no other vehicles had been involved in the accident. There was major damage to the vehicle due to the rollover.

Witnesses on scene helped the driver out of the overturned vehicle. Fortunately the driver only sustained minor injuries, if any and didn’t require treatment by emergency personnel at the crash site.

The driver for some unknown reason had lost control of the vehicle and ended up leaving the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle traveled down into the ditch on the southwest side of Santa Fe Road and rolled over onto it’s top near the dirt berm of the railroad tracks.

Because of the proximity of the vehicle to the railroad tracks, Escalon Police and Fire notified BNSF of the accident.

There were some traffic delays in the area as the vehicle was being loaded up to be towed away.

Rain, Wet Roadways and Darkness may have been a factor in this accident.
