Escalon Police Department Receives Grant For All Electric Patrol Motorcycle

Escalon’s Police Chief, Mike Borges, applied for and received a Public grant for an new alternative fuel vehicle and the blessings from the City Council with a 5-0 vote at last night’s council meeting.

The Escalon Police Department is about to receive a new 2016 Zero DSP ZF13.0 PD Black with funds received from a San Joaquin Valley air pollution control district.  The all electric motorcycle produces zero emissions.  There will be some costs to the Department for radio equipment, motorcycle driver training and equipping officers with helmets with a Bluetooth mic system.

Chief Borges sees the new motorcycle as a motivational tool for the officers and provides another aspect of community policing.  He also stated the all electric motorcycle will be very efficient when used for special events, traffic enforcement and it’s ability to be used off-road.
