Local Family Assists Officers With Equipment Purchase
Source: Ripon Police Department.
Due to the increasing number of attacks upon officers across the United States involving suspects armed with high-powered assault rifles, a group of Ripon officers looked into the possibility of purchasing modern upgraded helmets and protective armored plates with their own money.
The city does provide basic equipment to the officers, but the need for advanced equipment has become increasingly important. Ripon City Councilman Mike Restuccia recently became aware of the officers attempts to obtain this advanced protective equipment. Mike and his wife Mona pledged their own money to assist officers by matching the officers contribution towards each purchase.
8 modern protective helmets and 5 plate carriers were purchased by the officers. The department would like to thank the Restuccias for their support.
