NOTICE OF CITY OF ESCALON – CITY COUNCIL MARIJUANA REGULATIONS WORKSHOP

The purpose of the workshop is to continue review and discussions on potential regulations regarding Proposition 64 The Adult Use of Marijuana Act (AUMA). The City Council currently has a moratorium on personal marijuana uses pending an update to the City’s Municipal Code.

The existing ban and restrictions on marijuana dispensaries, cultivation, manufacture and delivery extends to personal outdoor cultivation, and will be in place until the City has considered and studied the potential impacts.

The City Council is seeking public input regarding personal marijuana cultivation uses and potential impacts such land uses may have on public health, safety, and welfare. AUMA authorizes cities to “reasonably regulate” cultivation of marijuana inside a private residence, and regulate or completely prohibit outdoor cultivation, marijuana retailers, dispensaries, and delivery services.

The workshop is on recreation use only and does not pertain to current medical marijuana regulations. Based on input future workshops may be considered.
