Escalon, California – Head on Collision on Highway 120 at Harrold Road.
The accident was reported around 6:12 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 and occurred on Highway 120 at the intersection of Harrold Avenue. California Highway Patrol, Escalon Fire Department, and Escalon Community Ambulance Services responded to the accident. The head on collision involved a white Dodge Ram 1500 pick up truck and a red Jeep Cherokee. The California Highway Patrol is the primary investigating agency in this accident.
From information gathered on scene from both drivers, it appeared that the driver of the white Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound and the driver of the red Jeep was traveling westbound on Highway 120. The driver of the white truck said he was on his way home from work when the driver of the red jeep attempted to make a left hand turn right in front of him and that’s when they collided.
The impact crushed the front end of both vehicles, causing major damage to the front end of the Dodge Ram and major damage to the front of the Jeep Cherokee. The white Dodge came to rest on the south east corner of the intersection against a grassy berm, but not after also taking out the corner street sign. The red Jeep remained on the roadway.
The driver of the red Jeep looked like he had a few small cuts on his face, but refused treatment from Escalon emergency medical technicians on scene. The driver of the Dodge Ram appeared to be uninjured. No one was transported by ambulance from the crash site and it appeared no other vehicles had been involved in the accident.
The accident caused minor delays to traffic on Highway 120 at Harrold Avenue. Both vehicles were off the roadway and on the south side shoulder of Highway 120. Most of the debris was out of the main roadway and caused minor issues. McDowell tow services were called out to tow at least one of the vehicles from the crash site.
