Love Escalon Event 2017
Escalon, California – WeEscalon
April 08, 2017 – The Love Escalon community project day started with a gathering at 8:00 a.m. this morning of community volunteers at the Main Street Park Kick-Off Rally. The rally included some snacks and drinks for the participants. Escalon Police, Escalon Fire, and Escalon Community Ambulance Services were on hand to show support for the clean-up event. Volunteers received job assignments at the rally and discussed their projects before heading out to their designated assignments.
Projects were scheduled to start around 9:00 a.m. with crews fanning out to different projects around the community. All projects were scheduled to be completed no later then noon. Some morning assignments were cancelled due to the chance of rain. This provided an opportunity for some of the teams to find other projects at homes in the community such as mowing, cleaning yards and washing windows.
Projects included sweeping, cleaning the front sidewalk area, and dusting the inside exhibits at the Museum. Other projects included painting the front office area of the animal shelter; picking up trash along the south side of Highway 120 by the railroad tracks; washing school buses; and community home clean ups. Some teams even delivered meals to some members of the community.
Thunder and lighting followed by pouring rain started about 11:10 a.m. and put a stop to some of the outside projects. Still overall, it was a productive day for the Love Escalon Event. Great job to all involved! This year’s work day coordinator was Dana Corbin.
