Online Sexual Predator Arrested in Manteca

On April 7, 2017, San Joaquin County Sheriff Detectives began a proactive investigation for online sexual predators seeking underage children for sexual acts.

During this investigation detectives were contacted by one of these online predators. He was communicating and requesting sexual acts from what he believed to be a 14-year old female. He also sent images depicting sexual matter.

On April 10, 2017, Detectives set up a location and a time to meet. The suspect followed through with this meeting and was subsequently taken into custody. He was identified as 37-year old Steven Smalley of Manteca. Steven Smalley was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on the following charges: Contact with a minor for sexual purposes, arranging to meet with a minor for sexual purposes, and sending harmful matter to a victim with intent of sexual gratification.

Sheriff Detectives are requesting that if anyone has possibly been in contact with Steven Smalley and are a possible victim or know of any additional possible victims, please contact Detective Hoy at 209-468-4400.
