Escalon, California – Non-Injury Accident -Truck vs. Power Pole.
The accident was reported around 9:01 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017 and occurred on East Mariposa Road, just east of the intersection of Dodds. California Highway Patrol, Escalon Fire Department, and Escalon Community Ambulance Services responded to the accident. The crash involved a solo grey Toyota Tundra pick up truck. The California Highway Patrol is the primary investigating agency in this accident.
From information gathered on scene, it appeared that the driver of the Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound on East Mariposa Road when the accident occurred. The driver of the Toyota for some unknown reason lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a power pole. The Toyota turned sideways before smashing into the base of the power pole and coming to rest on it’s side with the pole resting on top of the truck. The impact smashed the power pole in two and caused major damage to the Toyota Tundra.
The driver of the Toyota suffered no injuries and refused treatment from Escalon emergency medical technicians on scene. No one was transported by ambulance from the crash site and it appeared no other vehicles had been involved in the accident.
The accident caused minor delays to traffic in both directions of East Mariposa Road, while PG&E crews worked on removing the power line crossing the roadway. PG&E crews will be on scene replacing the pole and completing repairs most of the day. The damaged vehicle was off the roadway and did not cause an obstruction to traffic. Emergency vehicles on scene did partially block the eastbound lane of East Mariposa Road, which caused some of the delays to traffic. Most of the debris was off of the main roadway and caused no issues. McDowell tow services was called out to tow the vehicle from the crash site.
