Morning Injury Accident on McHenry Avenue at First Street
Escalon, California – Injury Accident on McHenry Avenue at First Street.
WeEscalon – June 13, 2017: The accident was reported around 8:19 am this morning and occurred at the intersection of McHenry Avenue and First Street. Escalon Police Department, Escalon Community Ambulance Services, and Escalon City Public Works responded to the accident. The crash involved a white Lexus and a blue Ford Ranger pick up truck. Escalon Police Department is the primary investigating agency in this accident.
From information gathered on scene, it appeared that the Lexus was traveling northbound on McHenry Avenue and the Ford was traveling eastbound on First Street when the accident occurred. It was unclear which vehicle failed to stop at the traffic lights, but the Ford ended up crashing into the driver side door of the Lexus. The impact caused moderate to major damage to both vehicles.
The drivers of both vehicles were treated by medical emergency technicians on scene for unknown injuries and the driver of the Ford was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. It appeared there were no other passengers in the vehicles and no other vehicles were involved in the accident. Traffic light configuration, speed, and inattention to the traffic light pattern may have been a factor in this accident.
The accident caused only minor delays to traffic on McHenry Avenue. The Ford was particularly blocking one of the northbound lanes and the Lexus was on the sidewalk in the northeast corner of the intersection. There was also some debris in the roadway causing issues. The northbound McHenry Avenue was reduced to one lane until the vehicles and debris could be removed. McDowell & Davis Tow Services were called out to remove the vehicles from the crash site.
