The crash occurred when one of the drivers attempted to pass on a double yellow line and collided head-on with the oncoming vehicle. There were truck parts and automobile fluids at the point of impact. The direction that the vehicles were traveling was unclear and the CHP Officers on scene were still investigating the collision. The collision caused major front-end damage to both vehicles.

Speed and passing on a double yellow line may have been factors in this collision.

There were moderate delays to traffic traveling in both directions on River Road. The roadway was completely blocked by both trucks involved in the accident and emergency vehicles.
