Arrest Made in Tampering with Vehicles.

Jaime Ornelas, 19 years old, from Escalon.

In the early morning hours of 12/5/17, a victim located a person rummaging through his vehicle in the 1500 block of Sophie Lane. When the victim confronted the suspect, he ran off. The victim later positively identified the suspect as Jaime Ornelas, 19 years old, from Escalon.

On the morning and early afternoon of 12/5/17, six other victims reported that their vehicles had been rummaged through. The victims were in the 1500 block of Sophie Lane, the 1600 and 1700 blocks of Countrywood Lane, and the 2200 block of Vine Avenue. A total of 9 unlocked vehicles had been entered and rummaged through, only 5 victims noticed any property missing.

On 12/6/17, an arrest warrant was issued for Jaime. On 12/27/17, Jaime was tracked to a house on East A Street in Oakdale. Detective Hardgraves with the assistance of the Oakdale Police Department responded to the residence, where Jaime was arrested. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for nine counts of tampering with a vehicle and 5 counts of petty theft. His bail was set at $50,000.00
