City of Escalon to get an electronic Community Event Sign
WeEscalon – January 17, 2018.
The Escalon Lions Club will purchase and donate an one sided electronic community event sign to be placed at the intersection of McHenry Avenue/Escalon Avenue and Highway 120 on the northwest corner near the backside of the new AM/PM. The sign will be used for group announcement, upcoming events and other interests in town.
The sign measures 4 ft. x 7 ft.-10 inches with an ID block that measures 18 inches x 7 ft.- 10 inches. The sign will be installed on two four-inch steel poles with the bottom of the sign being approximately 10 feet off the ground.
The City of Escalon has recently made some changes to the electrical to the lights in the area to accommodate power to the new sign. It will cost approximately $3,000 to $4,000 to connect the sign to a wi-fi system for off site programming.
The City will own the sign and installation will be the responsibility of the City, including the cost of the poles for installation. The estimated cost to the City to install the sign will be approximately 8 to 12 hours of man power and $800 to $1,000 in material cost. The ongoing maintenance and content programming will be the responsibility of City Staff.
The City will determine and develop some guidelines regarding what are allowable events to be posted on the new sign.
Approved at the Escalon City Council Meeting on January 16, 2018.
