Emergency vehicles were blocking the westbound lane of Lone Tree Road reducing the roadway to one lane of traffic. Traffic was light in the area causing minor delays. Emergency personnel attended to the victim and cordoned off the fence line with yellow crime tape. The area was cordoned off because responding personnel were not sure if the downed power lines and nearby metal fence were still electrified. PG&E crews soon arrived in the area to deal with the power lines and to ensure the power was off to that portion of lines. Shortly after, a McDowell tow truck arrived to clean up some of the debris and tow away the damaged vehicle.

It was pretty obvious to the California Highway Patrol Officers and fire emergency personnel on scene that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Lone Tree Road at a high rate of speed before it drifted from the roadway, colliding with the power pole and metal fencing. There were car parts and other debris from inside the vehicle scattered all over the area between the power pole and where the vehicle finally came to rest. The victim told emergency personnel he was tired and this may have hindered his driving abilities. It was unclear if drugs or alcohol was a factor in this accident.

The driver involved in the accident was pulled from the back seat of the demolished vehicle and treated by Escalon emergency medical technicians on scene. The driver was transported by Escalon Community Ambulance Services to a nearby hospital. It was reported by California Highway Patrol Officers on scene that the victim suffered unknown minor to moderate injuries. It appeared no other vehicles were involved in the accident. The impact to the power pole and pipe fencing caused major damage to the front end of the vehicle. After the vehicle struck the pole, it rolled over several times, pretty much totaling the whole vehicle. The vehicle collision also caused major damage to a power pole and metal pipe-type horse fencing.
