Escalon, California – Escalon Police Units, Escalon Fire Trucks, and Escalon Community Ambulance Services responded to a two-vehicle rear-end collision this morning.

The accident was reported about 7:58 this morning, Escalon Police Officers, Escalon Fire, and Escalon Community Ambulance responded to a report of an unknown injury accident involving a grey GMC SUV and a white Chevrolet sedan.  The accident occurred at the intersection of McHenry Avenue and Clough Avenue.  Escalon Police Department is the primary investigating agency in this collision.

Upon arriving on the scene, emergency personnel found the grey GMC was in the center of McHenry Avenue and immediately started attending to the victims of the accident.  The vehicle and debris, mostly in the northbound lane, was causing traffic delays for both lanes of travel.  Traffic control measures were implemented and all northbound traffic on McHenry Avenue was diverted west on Clough Avenue.

The occupants of the white Chevrolet were out of their vehicle and were checked by emergency personnel at the accident scene.  One person from the grey GMC was treated on scene by medical technicians and transported to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.  It appeared no other vehicles had been involved in the accident.

From information gathered at the scene, both vehicles were traveling northbound on McHenry Avenue when the accident occurred.  It appeared the driver of the white Chevrolet sedan was unable to avoid rear ending the grey GMC that was attempting to turn left.  The force of the impact spun the GMC around with the vehicle coming to rest in the center of the roadway in the opposite direction of travel.  The white Chevrolet ended up in the field on the east side of the road.

Both vehicles appeared to have major damage.  The white Chevrolet to the front end and the grey GMC to the rear of the vehicle.  Tow services were called out to remove both vehicles and the roadway was reopened.
