Solo Vehicle Versus Power Pole On McHenry.

Escalon, California – The accident was reported on 04/01/19 at 8:24 p.m. and occurred on McHenry Avenue just south of Clough Avenue. Escalon Police Department, Escalon Fire Department, and Escalon Community Ambulance Services responded to the accident. The accident involved a solo white 4-door sedan. Escalon Police Department is the primary investigating agency in this accident.
It appeared to emergency crews on scene the driver was traveling southbound on McHenry Avenue when the accident occurred. For some unknown reason the driver of the white car lost control of the vehicle leaving the pavement and striking a power pole on the west side of the roadway. The vehicle struck the pole and spun around coming to rest not far from the impact point.
The solo occupant of the white sedan was removed from the vehicle and treated by emergency personnel. The victim was then transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries. It appeared no other vehicles had been involved in the accident. There was major damage to the passenger side and front-end of the rental vehicle. The power pole was damaged beyond repair and will need to be replaced. MID was called out to make those repairs and to replace the damaged pole.
The accident and emergency vehicles caused major delays for traffic on McHenry Road in both directions. The roadway was closed to through traffic from both directions and vehicles were detoured to side streets or turned around. The vehicle and most of the debris was off to the west side of the roadway which caused little issues. Tow services were called out to remove the vehicle.
