Gilton Garbage Truck Crashes After Tire Blowout
ESCALON, CALIFORNIA – (Thursday) October 13, 2016 – California Highway Patrol investigated a solo minor-injury traffic accident that occurred this afternoon involving a Gilton garbage truck.
The accident was reported about 3:06pm this afternoon on Santa Fe Road just west of S. Harrold Avenue. California Highway Patrol, Escalon Fire, and Escalon Community Ambulance responded to the scene.
The driver of the Gilton garbage truck was southbound on Santa Fe Road when the accident occurred. It was reported that the driver of the truck experienced a tire blowout which pulled the truck to the right and off the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the truck traveled down into the ditch and struck the dirt berm of the railroad tracks. The impact caused the garbage truck to flip completely over and land on its side.
Witnesses on scene helped the driver out of the garbage truck. Fortunately the driver of the truck only sustained minor injuries and was treated by emergency personnel at the crash site.
There were some traffic delays in the area due to the accident and emergency vehicles on the roadway. Traffic was also diverted while the truck was removed from the ditch. California Highway Patrol Officers along with Raymont’s towing services worked on clearing the roadway.
