Vehicle Rollover on Yosemite Ave.
February 01, 2017.
Escalon, California – February 01, 2017: Escalon Police Department, Escalon Fire, City Public Works, and Escalon Community Ambulance Services responded to a solo vehicle rollover accident.
The accident was dispatched around 4:02 p.m. and occurred in the westbound lane of Yosemite Avenue just west of Plaza Avenue. Escalon Police Department is the primary investigating agency in this accident.
When emergency personnel arrived on scene they found that the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was already out of the vehicle and standing on a sidewalk nearby.
The driver of the vehicle was checked by emergency medical technicians on scene and appeared to be uninjured. No one was transported by ambulance from the crash site and it appeared no other vehicles had been involved in the accident.
Police performed a sobriety test on the driver of the vehicle. Drugs and/or alcohol did not seem to be a factor in the accident. However, speed may have been a factor in this crash.
It appeared the vehicle was traveling westbound on Yosemite Avenue just past Plaza Avenue when for some unknown reason the driver failed to follow the curve of the road. After leaving the roadway the vehicle clipped a large tree, knocked down a city light pole, and rolled over on its top before coming to rest. The vehicle and light pole were totaled.
There were major traffic delays on westbound Yosemite Avenue due to the emergency vehicles and tow services in the roadway. The vehicle had to be towed from the accident scene.
